We are located only a 10 minute walk from the centre of this
historic city.
There are several fine restaurants only 1 or 2 minutes walk from the house.
The Hakka Chinese restaurant, newly opened and offering quality dining in an
upmarket setting at reasonable prices. Across the road a little further on
is The Nirala, an Indian restaurant for eating in or take away. This restaurant
is newly refurbished and also offers good quality south Indian cooking for
a reasonable price. Both of these restaurants are licensed. If you want something
more informal, The Old Spring public house on Chesterton road offers good quality
Pub food and some fine real ales, all at reasonable prices. Across the river
a short walk from The Old Spring is The Fort Saint George, a quaint old English
pub well over 100 years old, and also offering real ales and quality food.
Large open fires in the winter in 2 of the 3 bars. If you want something a
little different, then The Portland Arms at the city end of Milton road, offers
good food, an excellent selection of real ales, and live music on most nights.
